Our Vision
To be a leader in global mapping, providing premium map services and products while serving humanity and the environment for the well being of earth.

Company Summary
Zenrin was established in 1948 in southern Japan, as a publisher of large-scale residential maps. Since that time, Zenrin has continued to publish high quality mapping products. Each residential map in Japan contains every street attribute including building shapes, building names, and business or private residents' names. Maps cover 94% of Japan and are available yearly for large cities and every two to three years for other cities, towns, and villages. Field surveyors collect street attribute information on foot, thus guaranteeing an extremely accurate, high quality product.

In 1981, Zenrin began digitizing its residential maps. By 1984, the company had completed its map database for PC's and dedicated host computers. This database has wide use in Geographic Information System (GIS) applications for corporate administration systems, city-planning departments, fire and police departments, and utility companies. In 1986, Zenrin took a step further and began to transform its database into a format suitable for the fledgling car navigation market.

Today over 3.5 million car-navigation systems traverse the Japanese road network. Zenrin provides its highly accurate navigation map database software to over 70% of the market and publishes over 30 titles of "NaviSoft" car navigation software.

Zenrin has over 100 branches in Japan and a worldwide network of branches in Germany, France, the U.S., and China. Zenrin plans on applying its experience and know how to produce map databases worldwide for car navigation, as well as PC and Internet applications. Zenrin map databases for car navigation are currently used in Europe, the U.S., and China.

Zenrin's aim is to become a leader in global mapping by providing premium map products and services while serving humanity and the environment.
