Zenrin is a global company specializing in mapping and software for in-car navigation. Founded as a paper map company in southern Japan in 1948, Zenrin currently commands about 90% of the map market throughout Japan. Today, Zenrin produces high-quality paper and digital maps, navigation software, and innovations in applied GPS technology.

In Japan, Zenrin's mapping software powers over 70% of in-vehicle navigation systems, the electronic devices that provide maps, directions, and destination information to drivers. Recent surveys indicate that about 23% of cars on the road in Japan have these systems on board. Zenrin customizes its mapping software for the companies that make navigation devices. In the US, Zenrin provides navigation software and expertise to Nissan North America and is exploring collaborative efforts with other electronics and auto manufacturers. Zenrin also surveys businesses along America's interstate corridors to integrate into their navigation software. Businesses, organizations, and travelers nationwide utilize this data in a variety of applications and settings. Zenrin has also launched its innovative PC mapping software Micro City Map (MCM) Z San Francisco. MCM Z is a visually appealing, searchable map of the city in two and three dimensions with collection of user-friendly features. In April 2000, Zenrin's US branches were incorporated under the name ZENRIN USA, Inc.

Zenrin's European offices are working on MCM Z products for over 21 cities including Munich, Hamburg, Paris, Amsterdam, and London, in addition to navigation-related research.

The name Zenrin means 'good neighbor.' Zenrin's mission is to be a leader in global mapping, providing premium map services and products while serving humanity and the environment for the well being of earth.
